Busy week - first week of the new school year. Everyone is getting adjusted to the new routines.

I felt a big sluggish at the start of the week. settling into the school routine had a slight impact on my timing - have to factor in school pick ups and drop offs. This really only showed up on the bike, I missed a focused effort early.

I introduced strength work into the mix this week. It was a bit shocking to the system - I had some good DOMS. That mostly cleared up with genle aerobic work. I look at strength work as injury prevention mostly. And general long term health - we loose lots of muscle as we age.

Smoke blew in over the weekend. I got two longer rides in but was really focuesed to keep the efforts easy so I didn’t pull in any more bad air than I needed to. These efforts are about the duration rather than high intensity so in that respect well aligned. With clearer air I think I would have gone somewhat longer.

I have been having some tightness through my hips and low back. I have been injecting hip mobility work and yoga into my week. This week I really tried to double down on this and it feels like things are moving in the right direction. Still some nags in my left bum and lower back. Much better than in weeks past. Just keep doing the work.
