Sunday Summary 15-Jan-2023
Solid week. I am quite pleased with how training went this week. I am starting to pick up momentum now and am hitting most sessions really well. Towards the tail end of the week I was a bit tired and I bypassed a swim. In years past I would have just bit my tounge and toughed it out. These days I am trying to pay closer attention to fatigue and back off when needed.
I have a set of morning markers that I have been paying attention to and that has helped me better understand when to back off. I have a much better feel for when those markers are going to tell me I am tired. I am proud I can now have a pretty good idea of what the numbers are going to tell me before I see them. Tuning feel is something we all do in training, all those descending sets and different interval intensities, but we so often ignore feelings outside of activity.
The weather was such that I could get a weekend ride done outside. It was great to be in the woods with the wind in my face. Right off I noticed a delta between effort from the trainer. I seem to be able to generate far more power at a much lower heart rate outside. And the time flew by!
