This ended up being a bit of a strange week on the training front. It started really well and overall it was strong, the training log just doesn’t look that way. I headed into the alpine Wednesday evening. We had a 44cm dump of snow so the downhill skiing was sublime. I was downhilling for pretty much the entire day Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I did punch out a solid cross country ski over the weekend as well but mostly just downhill.

While downhill skiing it isn’t the aerobic work that I would normally be after it isn’t sitting on the sofa either. Just a different kind of load is all.

In my past I would likely have just ignored the glorious downhill conditions and gotten my work in. These days I have a different outlook on things. I was active and out there for close to 8 hours each day. While the level of aerobic work is different it is still base level conditioning. And boy, it was fun!
